Description

The Hioki ST4030A Impulse Winding Tester is a specialized safety and quality control device for testing windings in electric motors, coils, and other inductive components. It detects insulation failures like layer shorts and single-turn faults by analyzing the response waveform after applying a high-voltage impulse. Its high-speed and high-resolution waveform detection makes it suitable for quality testing in the electric vehicle industry.

Key Features
  • Response waveform quantification: The ST4030A uses a proprietary method to quantify the impulse response waveforms into LC and RC values. These numerical values allow for more precise pass/fail judgments than traditional waveform area comparison, which is less reliable for detecting minuscule defects.
  • High-precision waveform detection: With a sampling speed of up to 200 MHz and a 12-bit resolution, the tester can accurately detect subtle variations in waveforms.
  • Partial discharge detection: When combined with the optional Discharge Detection Upgrade ST9000, the tester can filter out noise and isolate microscopic partial discharges, allowing for highly accurate detection of insulation defects.
  • Testing after rotor installation: The quantitative LC and RC value analysis allows you to test windings even after the rotor has been installed, a process that is difficult with conventional testers due to stray capacitance effects.
  • Insulation breakdown voltage (BDV) testing: The instrument can perform BDV tests by gradually increasing the applied impulse voltage until an insulation failure is detected.
  • Multiple judgment parameters: It offers several methods for pass/fail determination, including waveform area comparison, Flutter, Laplacian, and the more accurate LC/RC value judgment.
